Tales Of An Expectant Dad: Week 28

DSC03623On November 5th 2012, my wife gave birth to our first child. During the pregnancy I decided that I would write about the experience. Every week since I have documented all of the events that took place throughout this time, along with my thoughts on them. Now that I can confirm that our baby is happy and healthy, I will share those thoughts with you.

Week 28 – One, Two, Three Trimesters You’re Out?

Another appointment with the doctor goes by with no incidents. The kid has gained a pound since our last visit, weighing two and a half pounds. Apparently that is on the high end for size, and he’ll be about three times that size when he finally comes out. After looking at the sonogram it appears that he is starting to run out of room. Jess still doesn’t seem to have gain that much weight (at least that’s what I keep telling her), but I have a feeling that is going to change soon.

The current cravings are for bagels and Dominoes pizza with chicken wing bite things. Jess is having a lot of cramping as her body grows and her hands and feet are swelling. Along with the other aches and pains we now get to deal with acid reflux, which does not go along well with Dominoes. All of that takes a backseat to the calendar however, as today it came to my attention that we are at the end of the second trimester.

How could that even be possible? It feels like we should be smack in the middle of this. Apparently not, because the second trimester is over. You know what’s after that? The third! You know how many there are after the third? None! We’re in the final trimester. Holy shit!

We’re at a point now where we are going to have to start taking classes soon. There is a baby shower that has to happen. He need to figure out a goddamn middle name!

Just like when we got married (and seemingly anything else in life) the time has absolutely flown by. We’ve been preparing and talking about how to raise our child and what baby seat to get and all that. But we’re entering the final trimester and it feels like we have a million things to do. Oh yeah, and we have to get this moving thing going as well. Kid has to have a room right?
