Domino Confirmed For Deadpool Game (NYCC)

At this point we all know that High Moon Studios is making a Deadpool game due to come out in 2013 right? Well at the Marvel Video Games panel at the New York Comic Con we received an update on how the game was progressing.

Everything looks great, the combat is coming into shape and blah blah blah. Thankfully Deadpool himself decided to crash the panel, start a dance party, and announce that none other than Domino is confirmed to make her first video game appearance.  A fellow mercenary, Domino is also known for having a relationship with Cable, and you can’t have a Deadpool game without Cable being involved somehow. By the way, the game will be rated M for mature. That means cursing and boobs and blood and guts! They also showed this highlight reel of Deadpool’s appearance in San Diego:

Some other notes from the Marvel Video Games panel:

-The Amazing Spider-Man game will come to the Wii U in the spring. It will include all of the DLC, will have optional motion controls and the touchscreen controller with act as the cellphone hub during gameplay. This is similar to how the navigation and gadget controls are being applied to the Arkham City Armored Edition.

(On a side note, I watched some people run through a brief demo of Arkham City on the Wii U. Graphically it looks just like the current version. The armor’s main function seems to be providing a brief but large impact in combat, electrocuting enemies and adding range. It only works when fully charged. Gadgets like the remote batarang and detective vision make you look at the touchscreen. This gave a lot of players fits as it’s against everything we know as gamers to look away from the giant tv in our face to look at a smaller one below us. The controller itself takes some getting used to but I’m sure that after a little while you get used to it.)

-Marvel Pinball will be debuting a Civil War version by the end of the year. In it, you pick a side (Captain America or Iron Man) and the object while playing is to recruit allies. The side you select determines what moments play out from the series.

-There was some new footage shown for the free to play MMO, Marvel Heroes. Among it was the announcement of three new characters: Nova, Luke Cage and Jean Grey (as Phoenix). The video also showed a glimpse of Rocket Racoon from Guardians of the Galaxy, which got a big response from the crowd.

Monster-Mania Con 22 Recap

A few weeks ago Ryan and Chris ventured back out to Cherry Hill, New Jersey for Monster-Mania Con 22. Last year’s Monster-Mania 19 (they do several each year) was the first event that we covered and it was a blast. I couldn’t attend, but Ryan admirably filled in. There were indie movie makers, cosplay and a lot of other stuff. Enjoy!

Everyone Knows There is a Deadpool Video Game Right?

The San Diego Comic Con has just passed, and of course everyone is talking about Iron Man 3 and the start of Marvel’s Phase 2 set of films. There was plenty of talk about the DC game Injustice, Gods Among Us and the Man of Steel footage as well. All rightfully deserved, but why in the hell are there not more people making a big deal out of the announcement of a Deadpool game?

I came back a few days after SDCC ended and only now am I becoming aware that this is happening. The fourth wall breaking merc with a mouth starring in his own video game? How did it even take this long to happen? Between Duke Nukem and No More Heroes, this game should be right up everyone’s alley. Of course little is known about it yet, but just check out the trailer and tell me you aren’t excited:

Now pull yourself together and let’s see what we can make of this. First off we already know he’ll be talking to us (and himself) while we play, and what better voice to do all the talking that Nolan North, the voice of Nathan Drake and a million other characters. He’s had plenty of experience doing Deadpool (Hulk vs. MvC3 etc) and has the right sense of humor to pull this off. Let’s also make note that this game will obviously not be for kiddies. Deadpool is already dropping s-bombs and blowing people’s head off Dead Space style. Graphically we can expect something along the lines of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Plenty of glorious blood.

Gameplay wise I have to think we’re talking 3rd person action shooter with a whole lot of melee combat thrown in. We saw limbs flying around like Ninja Gaiden and shooting in the middle of big crowds. I don’t expect bullets to be hard to find in this game. Also saw a turret and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a couple of vehicle sections too. I also get the feeling there will be plenty of throwback style mini games as well. Since this is Deadpool they can really do whatever they want and it wouldn’t be that out of place.

Little else is really known. No idea who he will be fighting against but several X-Men were shown or mentioned (suck it Wolverine). Perhaps they will be in it somehow. Being made by High Moon Studios (Fall of Cybertron), Deadpool is scheduled for release sometime in 2013 and I have a hard time figuring out how it won’t be awesome.

By the way, check out how it was announced:

THQ Has a Lot of Faith in Metro: Last Light

THQ must be expecting really big things from their upcoming FPS, Metro: Last Light. To help announce it, they have released this live-action short film titled, “Enter the Metro.”

THQ gave a little more detail to the game:

“The Moscow Metro. A monumental feat of Soviet engineering, with a dark secondary purpose – to serve as a refuge in the event of an atomic attack. As the Cold War thawed and the threat of nuclear annihilation seemed to fade, this purpose was forgotten – except by a few, waiting for the signal, ready to open the vaults… the last refuge for the remnants of mankind.”

So Metro: Last Light is a first person shooter set in a post apocalyptic Russia. You play a guy, that used to be a baby in this sequel to Metro 2033 (which I’ve never heard of). That’s pretty much all I got so far. I’m sure we can expect a lot more at E3 in a couple of weeks, but THQ must really consider this to be a big deal if they spent the time and money to make this awesome film to promote it. Here is some cover art too while we’re at it:

Watch the New ‘Star Trek’ Game Teaser

Reverb Games has released a trailer for their new Star Trek game. Check it out:

If you haven’t guessed already it looks like it will be a basic 3rd person shooter with some platforming thrown in. Also if you’re worth your weight as a Trekker then you’ll also notice that this game is based on the new movie, not the TV show. That’s really the only way for a Star Trek game to go the full action route, as the TV show never had this much going on.

We were also sent some concept art for the game, which you can also see here.

The game will be out early next year and will be available on all platforms.

So what do you think? Are excited for this game or do you think it’ll just be another mindless movie tie-in? Go where none of our readers have ever gone before, and sound off in the comments below!

WWE’12 Predicts WrestleMania 28

WrestleMania XXVIII is this Sunday, but that doesn’t mean we have to wait until then to know who will win all the matches. I’ve simulated each match using WWE’12, and was courteous enough to record the biggies for your amusement. It should be known that I had to create Jericho since he wasn’t on the roster (I made him equal to Punk in overall rating). I also threw in a random Diva to replace Menounos, and the Team Johnny vs Team Teddy match had to be a 3 on 3. On to the results!

CM Punk defeats Chris Jericho
Punk and Jericho trade finishers, with Jericho lasting about as long as anyone has in the anaconda vice without tapping. Punk proved he’s the best in the word with a few well placed kicks to the head.

Sheamus defeats Daniel Bryan
Daniel Bryan was in control early on, but Sheamus came up big in the end to win the World Heavyweight Championship. The Celtic Warrior escaped the lebell lock not once, but twice before hitting the high cross to end Bryan’s title run.

Triple H defeats The Undertaker
Third time turned out to be a charm for Triple H. After reversing a tombstone, The Game dropped The Phenom with a second pedigree to become the first man to defeat The Undertaker at WrestleMania.

John Cena defeats The Rock
In the match we waited a year for, The Rock dominated from the start, hitting two rock bottoms to put Cena on the ropes. The Great One did not go for the pin however, giving Cena all the opportunity he needed to get into the five moves of doom and take the win.

Here are the results for the matches I didn’t care enough to record:

Randy Orton def. Kane
Big Show def. Cody Rhodes
Team Johnny def. Team Teddy
Eve and Beth Phoenix def. Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos

Think it will turn out anything like how I have it? Let me know in the comments!

Hoverboards and Flying Deloreans Exist!

Back to the Future fans have been getting treated to all kinds of goodies lately. The Blu-ray collection was released, a video game was developed, and Marty’s Nike Mag sneakers were put up for auction. Well now we can add two more things to the revival.

Does not work on water

First is the Hoverboard by Mattel. did a great job with its revision of the Masters of the Universe line, and previously made a replica on the Delorean for the San Diego Comic Con. Now they are stepping their game up with a full scale prop repilca. For $120 bucks you can get this glorified plastic board with all the bells and whistles from the movie (including “whooshing sound”). This is one of those items my wife and I will have a heated debate over purchasing.

While the Hoverboard is available through retail, the flying Delorean is a home made project. Some people in Russia put their heads together and made an RC Model flying Delorean (with lights for night time travel). I’m not sure if it runs on garbage or plutonium, but I am sure that it’s awesome. They released a video showing some development shots along with it in action. Check it out (Thanks to Krister for bringing it to my attention):

Spider-Douche at the Giants Parade and other Super Bowl notes

Yesterday the New York Giants celebrated their second Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots in 4 years with a parade through the canyon of heroes in Manhattan. By now a lot of you have probably seen this lovely Giants fan. But you probably missed this Spider-Man wannabe that tried to creep into a window filled with women:

A few other Super Bowl notes from a Patriots fan living in New York (yeah you heard me):

Did you notice how little the non-game story lines were brought up during the game? The Tyree catch was shown once before the game started. Tyree himself was only shown once and that was not after the Manningham catch at the end that couldn’t have resembled it any more. Gisele was also only shown once early, although that is by Brady’s request. Meanwhile Peyton Manning, the future hall of fame Quarterback drawing a ton of attention for his feud with the Colts, brother of Eli Manning during the Superbowl in his team’s stadium, was not shown at all. Surprising effort by NBC to keep the cameras on the field. Even Gronkowski’s only got brought up a few times during the game.

As long as we are talking about Gisele, do you think Tom Brady ripped her a new one for throwing the team under the bus (seemingly to reporters with Vince Wilfork’s wife next to her). Forget about the fact that Brady got called for intentional grounding on the Patriots’ first offensive play of the game for a safety, or that he underthrew Gronkowski leading to an interception, or that he could have made a better throw to a wide open Welker that could have sealed a win in the 4th. She should know better. The Giselle curse lives on.

Finally, anyone else notice what a mediocre experience this Super Bowl was from top to bottom? The game was okay. Nobody played outstanding. Nobody was terrible. The biggest play was an over the shoulder sideline catch (great play, but no helmet catch by any means). The winning touchdown was scored by mistake. The commercials were mostly tame, and the ones that did stand out we had already seen so there was no wow factor (thanks internet). Madonna was meh. There just weren’t any moments that really stood out from this Super Bowl. Well, except for Aaron Hernandez’s touchdown celebration. Maybe the most sneaky good celebration ever. I had to watch it again before I realized he was breaking into a vault to do his normal “make it rain” dance. Just fantastic.
